How it works

A simple pathway for custom equipment

Some spaces need something made to fit. We can design and manufacture custom furniture, play products, activity systems, and specialist equipment around your dimensions, routines, intended use, and safety requirements. We keep the process clear so therapists, centres and families know what is involved before committing to a custom build.

Initial discussion

Tell us about the child, setting, therapy goal or practical problem.

Concept and estimate

We prepare an initial direction, likely materials, size and rough cost.

Design and manufacture

Once approved, we complete the design and make the product in Christchurch.

Documentation

We supply suitable safety, use and care information. Third party review can be explored where appropriate.

Play Systems is run by Andrew and Sophie in Christchurch. Andrew brings a background in industrial design, paediatric product design, CNC manufacturing and working to recognised safety standards. Sophie brings early childhood knowledge, parent perspective and a practical understanding of how children use spaces, furniture and movement equipment.
Together, we design equipment that is useful, durable and considered from more than one angle. It needs to make sense for the child, the adult supervising, the room it sits in and the setting.
